Frances Darby Young

Smithfield - Mrs. Frances Darby Young, 88, died Saturday at Smithfield Manor. A native of Vidalia, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Annie Darby and the widow of Jack E. Young. Mrs. Young was a former member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Smithfield and was currently a member of the First United Methodist Church in Vidalia.

Graveside services will be 11 A. M. Tuesday at Pinecrest Cemetery in Vidalia, Georgia.

Surviving: sons, J. Darby Wood of Goldsboro, Clark E. Young and wife June of Roanoke, Rapids; daughters, Sue W. Ferguson and husband Ken of Smithfield, Claire Y. Talley and husband Jim of Charlotte; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Young was preceded in death by a brother, James Darby; four sisters, Crystelle Chastain, Ann Garrett, Betty Page, and Rose Gardner.

In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorial contributions be made to the Public Library of Johnston County, c/o Jean Stowers, 205 Market Street, Smithfield, N. C. 27577
