NANCY SOLOMON ZWERLING

 

GOLDSBORO- Nancy Solomon Zwerling, 73, died Monday, July 2nd at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Nancy was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 15, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Charles and Viva Solomon. She was a graduate of The Packer Collegiate Institute, college preparatory day school and received her BA degree from NYU. Nancy was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church of Goldsboro.

She was the former editor and publisher of seven weekly newspapers on Long Island, hosted her own weekly TV news show, active member of the Republican party, member and past President of the Sagtikos Chapter of the DAR, champion tennis and ballroom dancer as well as an accomplished equestrian. Nancy was the founder and organizer of the Carolina Classic Competition, a NDCA recognized ballroom dance competition in Raleigh, NC. She was a former high school teacher on Long Island and also worked in Goldsboro with the Head Start Program and family YMCA.

She is survived by her children, her son Charles S. Zwerling, MD of Goldsboro, her daughter, Marcy Z. Almy of Fairfax Station, Virginia, and her daughter Stacey Z. Foulsham of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania; her grandchildren, Dr. Jennifer Almy, Denison Almy, Cornyn Almy, Courtney Foulsham, Whitney Foulsham, Jeffrey Foulsham, Tiffany Zwerling and Alexis Zwerling and her former husband Martin H. Zwerling, MD.

The funeral services will be held at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, July 5th at 11 am with Reverend Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Seymour Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 4th from 7 to 9PM; and  at other times the family will receive friends at the residence of her son, Charles S. Zwerling at 155 South Marion in Goldsboro.
