Obituary for Betty Mae Radford

Betty Mae Mercer Radford, 77, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at UNC Lenoir Hospital in Kinston.

Betty was born in Greenville County, Virginia on January 4, 1941 to the late James Mercer and Mavis Sasser Kroupa. She retired from Cherry Hospital after 20 years of service. Betty was an active member of Rosewood First Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher as well as the director of the Golden Agers for many years.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Rosewood First Baptist Church followed by a service to celebrate Betty’s life at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary with Dr. Mike Collier officiating. A private interment will be held in Wayne Memorial Park.

Betty is survived by her husband of 54 years, David A. Radford; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Ken of New Bern; grandchildren, Christy and Nathan; and brothers, Buddy Mercer (Joyce) of Henderson, Roger Mercer (Deborah) of South Carolina and James Mercer (Carol) of Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in memory of Betty to Rosewood First Baptist Church, 562 Hwy. 581 South, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
