Obituary for Bobbie Coker Sauls

LaGrange – Bobbie Coker Sauls completed her journey home on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 to the welcoming words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

Bobbie was born in Wayne County on May 9, 1939, the second of six children, and the daughter of the late Riley B. and Mabel Smith Coker. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Leon “Pee Wee” Sauls.

Bobbie was a long-time member of Coker Memorial Church. She was passionate in each endeavor at church, whether it be serving in the Women’s Ministries, coming up with a comedy sketch for the Mother Daughter Banquet or baking her famous cake for the Harvest Festival. She excelled at making people feel welcomed and loved, and her dedication to her church community reached too many lives to count. She gracefully shared the love of Jesus Christ with her actions and demeanor every day of her life.

Bobbie had a knack for bringing her family together for joyous fellowship, and for making each of her family members feel special. After God, family came first to Bobbie, and she encouraged her whole family to always stick together. She loved fishing and floral arranging, and game night with her always brought a lot of laughter. Bobbie lived her life with resiliency and abounding love and dedication to serving others. Her joyous personality, radiant smile, and sly sense of humor would light up a room wherever she went. She was friendly and outgoing, and always saw the best in everyone. She loved her siblings dearly, and together they never ceased to serve the community. Their bond was strong until her last moments.

The family will receive friends Thursday, September 20, 2018 beginning at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Coker Memorial Church, followed by a service to celebrate Bobbie’s life at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary, officiated by pastors Roy Savage, Michael Sauls, and Charles Heath. The family will also greet friends following the service at the church and at other times in her home. Interment will be Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Bobbie is survived by her husband, Gary Sauls; son, Craig Sauls and wife Heidi of LaGrange; daughters, Ginger Edmundson and husband Robert of Snow Hill, and Angie Sauls of LaGrange; grandchildren, Jessica Rothwell and husband Jeff, Madison Sauls, Rachel Sauls, Macy Sauls, Miranda Crumpler and husband Zac, Jon Mitchell Sauls-Foss, Blake Schmeltzer and husband Ty, and Codi Turnage; and great-grandchildren, Sawyer Crumpler, Nora Kate Crumpler, Adaline Crumpler, William Rothwell, and Oliver Rothwell. She is also survived by the sisters and brother whom she loved very much, Betty Webber and husband Bill, Frances Creech, Rose Sutton and husband Robert, Gail Grant, and Brantley Coker and wife Gay as well as many special nieces and nephews.

A heartfelt thanks to her family, friends, and neighbors, and a special thanks to those who provided excellent healthcare: Crystal, Christina and Carol. You all contributed in so many kind and thoughtful ways through the years and during this time of loss.
