Obituary for Lottie Massey Rains

Lottie Massey Rains, died Wednesday evening, March 7, 2018 at Countryside Village in Pikeville, NC. She was 88 years old.

Born May 15, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Alkie Lehman Massey and Lela Benton Massey. Mrs. Rains was married to the late Lester Duran Rains for 66 years. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Lehman Massey, Raymond Massey, Christine Massey Stone, George Massey and a grandson, John Alden Crain, III.

Her survivors include two daughters, Gail Rains Best and husband Dwight of Holden Beach, NC; Milly Rains Crain and husband Jack of Goldsboro and a son, Robert Lester Rains and wife Bree of Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Grandchildren include Jay Zambelli, Lee Zambelli and wife Mandy, Andy Crain and wife Erin, Charlotte Stoppa and husband Troy, Brylee, Luke and Lyla Rains. Great grandchildren are Pollyanna Zambellli, Avery Crain, Milly, Clara, Daniel and Duran Stoppa.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at 2:30 PM at Princeton Cemetery with Rev. James Harry officiating.

The family requests that memorial gifts be directed to Camp Trinity, P. O. Box 380, Salter Path, NC 28575 or St. Paul United Methodist Church (Thompson Fund), 204 E. Chestnut Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
