Obituary for Bobby Major Singleton

Bobby Major Singleton, 73, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Wayne UNC Healthcare surrounded by his family.

Bobby was born in Wayne County, NC on March 29, 1945 to the late Brodie and Lillie Grant Singleton. He had worked for many years in the auto parts industry. Early in his career Bobby worked with Standard Automotive Parts, later going to work with the Parts Place in Goldsboro and retiring from UCI – Eastern Carolina Warehouse. Bobby was a member of Westwood United Methodist Church.

Bobby had a knack for taking something old and making it new again. He loved restoring things back to their former glory. Anything from phone booths to jukeboxes to old cars. His attention to detail and ability to solve a problem was unmatched. Although Bobby leaves a vacant place in our hearts, we know he truly earned his special place in heaven. Bobby will always be remembered as a loyal man of faith that showed love and respect for everyone who touched his life. The best of Bobby will live on in each of us.

A service to celebrate Bobby’s life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 6, 2019 in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Hobbs and his nephew, Rev. Chris Singleton, officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home. Interment will be on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sarah Patricia “Pat” Bass Singleton; daughter, Sandra Hunnicutt and husband Chris of Benson; sister, Rachel Bush of Muncie, IN; and brother, Billy Singleton of Muncie, IN. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Morgan Eason McLaughlin and husband Don, Caitlin Hunnicutt Furr and husband Jake, William Hunnicutt, and Samantha Hunnicutt and fiancée, Peter Courson; and the apple of his eye, his great-grandson, Ronan Major Furr.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his sisters, Faye Miller, Mildred Bailey, Ann Bain and Christine Smith and brothers, Alvin Singleton, Harold Singleton, Milford Singleton and Kirby Singleton.

Although flowers are welcome, the family requests memorials be made to Westwood United Methodist Church, 130 Short Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
