Obituary for Nona Lynn Christian

Nona Lynn Christian, 68, left this world to be with Jesus on Sunday.

Lynn was born in Wilson County on February 4, 1951 to the late Dan Elkins Christian and Lorraine Mercer Brock. She was a graduate of Meredith College and received her Master’s at Appalachian University and later returned to East Carolina University to earn a degree in counseling and education. Lynn retired as a Chief Court Counselor for the 8th District with the State of North Carolina after 30 years of service. Following her retirement, she began working as a counselor with Northwest School. Lynn enjoyed the opportunities given to her by helping to impact the lives of so many children.

Lynn also enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, traveling, her yellow corvette, Reese chocolates, gummy bears, good music, watching butterflies, beautiful jewelry and UNC basketball. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends at birthdays and during the holidays as well as planning trips for vacation with her grandkids. However her most significant role in life and what she did best was being a loving mother and friend to her children and grandchildren. She will be missed.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 8, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home, 1175 Mount Carmel Church Road, Pikeville. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2019 in the Town of Bailey Cemetery.

Lynn is survived by her daughter, Lauran Sasser Britt and husband Robert of Pikeville; son, Todd Boykin of Pikeville; grandchildren, William Christian Boykin, Beckett Madden Cruse, Ryker Beau Britt and Ashley Daniels Head; brother, Onnie Christian and wife Fran; sister, Jewel Christian Morris; sister-in-law, Rita Christian; step-brother, Doug Brock; her good friends, Sharon Hinson, Cindy McLamb and Patti Wiggs; and Lauran’s father, William Brad Sasser.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dan Christian and step-father, Ben Hill Brock.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Goldsboro Worship Center, 900 W. New Hope Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
